Step 1: Log into BT My Files Anywhere (http://myfilesanywhere.bt.com)
with your computer and you will see instructions on how to download the BT My Files Anywhere Desktop
Agent. Click on the link to download and follow the wizard. This step will get your computer securely
connected to the BT My Files Anywhere service.
Hint: As you go through the wizard, you will get a chance to define which folders you
want to have access to when you are mobile. These folders will be accessible from your phone, PDA, or
another computer system. These are also the folders that you will be able to share with other people.
Step 2: Start sharing!
From your computer's browser:
- Log into My Files Anywhere. (You may already be there)
- On your My Files Anywhere desktop you will see the shared folders. Click on a folder and verify
that the contents are the ones that you want to share.
- Click on the [share] link and type in the BT My Files Anywhere username or email of the person to
share with. Include a message if you would like. (My username is "song" and Martin's is "martin".)
- Click on the "share" button. That's it.
From your phone:
- Log into BT My Files Anywhere.
- Click on the "Desktop" link.
- Follow steps 2-4 (From PC browser section) above
You can install the BT My Files Anywhere client on as many computers as you wish. They will all appear
on your BT My Files Anywhere Desktop when you log in.
If you want to add more folders to BT My Files Anywhere, open the BT My Files Anywhere client (double
click on the icon in the windows status bar) and click on the file sharing icon to see a list of shared
folders. You can drag and drop folders into the shared folders list or
you can choose them manually with the "Add Folder" button.
Share on the Spot? allows you to share from one phone to another. You can share your photos with your
friends and let them view your album on their phone, even when you are both away from your
computers! You can be notified via email or SMS when members make changes or share with you.
You can click on the icon for any computer to see the share status
information and to control who may access shared resources.
Groups are the ideal way to address more than one person. Whenever you share a folder, you can specify
a group name to address multiple users. By default, anyone you share with will be in a group
called "Contacts".
To define new groups, go
to the Account Setup after you login.
Choose the Group tab.
You can search any of your shared computers, but first you must
have a Desktop Search installed. BT My Files Anywhere supports all the major search products including:
Google Desktop
Windows
The BT My Files Anywhere Agent will automatically detect each program. Double click on the BT My Files
Anywhere icon in the status bar to check that your search is enabled.
Your status bar will have an icon for the agent. A green color means
that it is connected securely to BT My Files Anywhere.
- Connected
- Disconnected
Check your agent settings by double clicking on the icon in the status bar.
